What is it?
Core Aeration is achieved with a core aeration machine, which pulls plugs out of the soil and places them on the surface to dry. Then, the next time you mow, they are crushed and the soil is mixed into the thatch layer on the surface, adding micro-organisms to the thatch layer. This will help it to decompose and create new soil.
How is core aeration is beneficial?
Aeration also allows air, water, and nutrients to easily reach the root zone by relieving compacted soil and opening up the thatch layer. Core Aeration stimulates new growth, improves drainage, provides a better environment for over-seeding, and increases the effectiveness of applied fertilizer and control products. Aeration is one of the best things you can do for your lawn.
When is the best time to core aerate?
The best times to aerate are in the spring and fall, when the soil temperatures are cool.
How often should you have core aeration services done?
It is suggested that a lawn be aerated a least once per year, but preferably twice per year.
